Salt River Canyon

We went up to the White Mountains for Nicolas' Spring break. We had a great time and saw so many cool sites that I hadn't eve seen.
When we arrived at the cabin we rented there was even some snow left on the ground. It was pretty cold at night, down in the 20's and the days were mid 50's. It was a nice break from the heat of Tucson. The boys loved the pond that was right across from the cabin. They had a good time showing Isabella how to break apart the cat's tails. They chased each other around with them trying to fluff the other person. Bella wanted to go swimming in the pond and didn't understand why we couldn't. She was good though and just sat on the edge watching the ducks and calling out to them.
The boys were planning on going snowboarding for a day while Bella and I hung out at the cabin. They were gone for about 45 minutes when Nick came rushing into the cabin saying I needed to come outside quickly. I, of course, thought something was wrong. There was a little puppy in the back of the highlander. They'd found him on the way to Sunrise in the middle of the road. He was covered in dirt and had a cough. We decided we would take him to a local vet's office to see if he had a chip in him and try to find his owner. The vet let us know they see abandoned animals all the time coming off of the reservation. She said this dog was so lucky that we stopped for him because he wouldn't have made it another night out in the elements or even worse a coyote would have gotten him. So the dog came home with us and his name was decided, Lucky. The vet gave him a shot of antibiotics and a RX for an oral one too. She said the dog was about four months old and a pure breed golden retriever. She said these types of dogs are great family dogs because they're so good with children.
We played around town with the kids and Saturday morning we left with a new member of the family. We had to leave early in order to make sure we'd make it back to Tucson in time for the
U of A basketball game but on our way through the canyon we made a pit stop down at the bottom of the Salt River Canyon. My parents used to have a cabin in Pine top when I was younger so I remember going through the Salt River Canyon but I don't remember going to any of the water spots we found. It was breathtakingly beautiful. It reassured me there is a higher power to have created something that beautiful! Everyone played in the water, and my children actually went swimming in the freezing water. Even Lucky Boy jumped in.
It was a great three days out of Tucson and I'm so glad we decided to get away, even if it was for a short time.
Enjoy the pictures!!!!

Fun in the Mountains

Nick, Nicolas and Andrew were on their way to Sunrise to go snowboarding when they saw what they thought was a doe in the middle of the road. They slowed down and realized it was a puppy out on ice in the middle of the forrest. They pulled over and grabbed him out of the middle of the road. He was incredibly dirty and very lethargic. They put him in the car and headed back to the cabin. We gave the lite guy a bath, gave him food, water and decided we should have him scanned to make sure he doesn't have an owner. We took him to a Vet in Lakeside and she said he wasn't chipped. He is incredibly malnourished and may not have made it one more night out in the elements. She gave him a shot of an antibiotic and a prescription for an oral antibiotic. She cleaned his ears and eyes and said he needs lots of food, water and love but we found a purebred Golden Retriever and that he is 3 or 4 months old. The vet also said this breed of dog is one of the best to have around kids and thus far he's been so good with Isabella trying to ride him.
Nicolas decided to name him Lucky and so it is. The dog found us and we've decided to welcome this cute addition to our family.

If you hadn't heard, U of A beat Duke! I believe Bella's outfits really pushed them to the winning point. Bella knows how to say
U of A, basketball and Wildcats. She's so cute when she says
U of A!

Spring Break

It's spring break in the Mendibles house so we rented a cabin in the White Mountains and Nick and Nicolas are getting in their first and last run of the season. This year though Nicolas has decided he wants to learn how to snowboard. Instead of Nick taking him to the to top of the mountain and saying, "see you at the bottom," we're doing lessons. We've brought Andrew, Nick's nephew, with us to keep Nicolas busy.
Thank goodness we had direct tv at our cabin because the U of A played Duke in the March Madness tournament and the Cats won!
Onto the elite 8 game next against U Conn.
Isabella loves the cabin because the bath has jacuzzi jets. She was splashing everywhere. The only problem in traveling with her is she doesn't sleep very good in the pack and play so she and I are awake, in our beds, but awake nonetheless.
I will download pictures of our extravaganza soon!

Hopefully we are done!

Hi all! Sorry for not posting in a very long time! We are in Tucson and we hope to be here for good!!! Nicolas likes living so close to family and it's great to not have snow to deal with! It's going to be in the 80's this week and for us that's hot!! We shall see how we get through the summer but get through it we will!
I am close to getting my AZ teaching credential renewed and I'm slowly thinking about someone else taking care of little Bella! That will be the hardest part of going back to work. I'm not sure I'm ready for that but eventually it will happen.
Nicolas is gearing up for baseball to start and he's ready to get back to it! So are Nick and I. I love watching him play and maybe next season Nick and I can coach.
Nick isn't traveling very much at all. Once in awhile he goes up to Phoenix but it's only 90 miles north of Tucson so he's not flying anymore. He's really enjoying his new role as an area manager for the 7 stores he oversees. He's a great leader and while he had to let some poor performers go overall his employees are jumping on board. They just didn't have someone to turn to ask questions so they just made up their own procedures.
Otherwise not much more is going on. We miss you all and
hope you all are doing great!
